Kathleen Brenny and Kandace Martin offer seminars that assist teachers in becoming a more competent teacher.  Based on individual chapters of the book, each seminar offers a complete learning package that will help teachers to be more student/family/community centered, more involved as learners themselves and more confident in their instruction and assessment of students.  All seminars are highly interactive and based on adult learning theory.  Each seminar is specifically designed for each district, post secondary institution, learning center or audience.  Mix and match any of the seminars listed below.  Each seminar is designed to be 3 – 7  hours of interactive, research based learning opportunities.

Small Apple Getting Started
This induction seminar helps teachers prepare for their first day, first week and first year.  This program provides intensive support to new teachers and veteran teachers alike.

Small Apple Classroom Management
If teachers don’t have a classroom management plan, teaching and learning will be hindered.  Classroom Management seminars focus on designing individual plans that will provide for an efficient, safe classroom.  Teachers will have designed a plan that will produce an orderly, effective learning environment.

Small Apple Developing Lessons
This seminar will assist in establishing research based practices to ensure quality lessons that meet the needs of all students.  Several models will be explored with participants writing unit and daily plans throughout the workshop.

Small Apple Teaching the Lesson
The lesson is prepared.   How do you teach an effective lesson?  What components are necessary to effectively increase student achievement through a refined, deliberately planned delivery?  Research based techniques will be demonstrated and practiced during this session.

Small Apple Assessing Student Learning
Teaching and learning are linked, but how do teachers check for understanding on a daily basis?  This seminar explores the myriad techniques used to assess student learning.  This seminar includes rubric design to grading practices to authentic assessment practices.  Participants will be reviewing many methods that will assess student learning.

Small Apple Utilizing Resources
A variety of effective resources are available to teachers, but new teachers don’t know where or how to access them.  This seminar will supply teachers with useful tools to use in the classroom that are at their fingertips.

Small Apple Working with ESL Students
This seminar addresses the needs of the ESL student and focuses on development of instructional strategies to impact student language acquisition and close the achievement gap.

Small Apple Students with Special Needs
As teachers become familiar with their students, teachers also become familiar with students' capabilities.  How they address the needs of all students becomes perplexing and at times overwhelming.  How do they address the diverse needs of all students within the classroom?  This seminar addresses these issues and helps new teachers seek ways to meet the needs of all students in their classroom. 

Small Apple Reach Out to Parents and the Community
The last component in creating an effective partnership is the establishment of relationships with parents and the community.  Participants will discover ways to enhance parent involvement and build community support for their classroom and school.  Many modes of communication will be explored with participants leaving with myriad ways to enlist parent assistance.

Small Apple Maintaining Professionalism
Focusing on teacher ethics and the law, in this session teachers will investigate what constitutes acceptable behavior in and out of school settings. 

Small Apple Personal Management
Your main focus as a new teacher is to effectively facilitate student learning.  Often times teachers forget about their own well being.  This seminar provides a variety of helpful strategies to hinder the teacher burnout syndrome.
